If you are looking for a community rooted in solidarity rather than charity, Trans Mutual Aid Manchester is your essential destination. We are a grassroots, peer-led collective dedicated to providing practical, emotional, and financial support to trans and non-binary people across Greater Manchester.

We pride ourselves on being a “by us, for us” sanctuary, operating on the principle that when the systems around us fail, we show up for each other.

Solidarity in Action

Our group is designed to provide tangible help to those navigating the unique challenges of trans life. We recognise that many in our community face barriers to healthcare, housing, and financial stability, and TMAM exists to bridge those gaps through direct action. Our core initiatives include:

• The Solidarity Fund: We raise and distribute small grants to help community members with essential costs, such as gender-affirming items (binders, packers), transport to GIC appointments, or emergency groceries.
• Practical Resource Sharing: Whether it’s help with a name change deed poll, navigating the benefits system, or finding trans-safe housing, we pool our collective knowledge to ensure no one has to figure it out alone.
• Skill-Sharing & Workshops: We host sessions ranging from DIY healthcare advocacy to creative arts, empowering our members to reclaim agency over their lives and their transitions.

We work in the tradition of intersectional liberation, ensuring that our support is accessible to the most marginalised members of our community, including Black and Brown trans people, disabled folk, and those seeking asylum.

You’ll find us popping up at community markets, organising “Stitch and Bitch” sessions, and collaborating with other radical Manchester groups to create a city that is truly liveable for all trans people. At TMAM, we don’t wait for permission to help our own—we simply get to work.
