The Queen Adelaide is a much-loved LGBTQ+ bar and nightclub on Hackney Road in East London. Serving the queer community, residents and visitors since 2002, it is run by the team behind the former George & Dragon and has become a key part of East London’s alternative queer nightlife.

The bar has a warm, camp and slightly chaotic style, with fairy lights, cosy booths, vintage finds and quirky decorations throughout. It is a relaxed place for a first drink, a date, a catch-up with friends or a night out with a more creative East London crowd.

Drinks include draught beer, cider, wine, spirits and cocktails. Downstairs, the venue’s maze-like basement has mirrored walls and a dance floor, making it ideal for club nights that continue until the early hours. Regular events include DJ sets, themed parties, pop, R&B, house and queer club nights, with ticketed events often running from 10pm to 3am.

The Queen Adelaide is open every day from 5pm. It closes at 1am from Monday to Wednesday and on Sundays, while Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights run until 3am. The venue is at 483 Hackney Road, close to Cambridge Heath Overground station and within easy reach of Bethnal Green, Shoreditch and Dalston.

For anyone seeking a friendly, camp and late-night LGBTQ+ venue in East London, The Queen Adelaide offers a distinctive Hackney bar with a strong community feel and a packed programme of club nights.

Our ground floor is a masterclass in eclectic, kitsch design—think taxidermy, velvet curtains, and vintage oddities that give the pub its unique, lived-in character. It’s the ideal spot for a relaxed pint or a craft cocktail during the week.

We take pride in our warm, inclusive atmosphere where conversation is king and everyone from old-school locals to the new generation of Hackney creatives feels right at home.

However, once you head downstairs to our basement, the vibe shifts gears. Our club space is legendary for its intimate, sweat-on-the-walls energy, hosting some of the best underground queer DJs and performers in London.

From disco and house to alternative pop, the music is always curated to keep the dancefloor packed. Whether you’re stopping in for a Sunday roast or staying late for a basement rave, The Queen Adelaide is an essential piece of the Hackney nightlife puzzle.
