The Cock Tavern is a friendly LGBTQ+ pub on Kennington Road in South London, close to Kennington Park, Oval and Vauxhall. Set in a Georgian building, it combines a relaxed local-pub atmosphere with camp, colourful décor and a lively programme of queer events.

The venue’s “Georgian Tiki” style gives it a distinctive feel, mixing classic pub features with playful, flamboyant details. It is a welcoming space for gay, bi, trans and queer people, with a crowd that is often popular with people aged 30 and over. Entry is free, and the pub can be reserved for groups of six or more if booked before 8pm.

The Cock Tavern serves cocktails, beer, wine and food, including Yard Sale Pizza. Happy hour runs from 5pm to 7pm on Thursdays and Sundays. Regular events include Big Gay Out, queer R&B and hip-hop nights, karaoke, a monthly quiz, queer open mic sessions, DJ sets and themed music nights.

On Fridays and Saturdays, DJs play from 10pm until 2am, with dancing continuing late into the night. The pub is open Thursday from 5pm to midnight, Friday and Saturday from 5pm to 2am, and Sunday from 5pm to midnight. It is closed Monday to Wednesday, except for private bookings.

The nearest stations are Kennington and Oval, both around a five-minute walk away. For a relaxed drink, a fun quiz or a late-night dance in South London, The Cock Tavern offers a warm and inclusive LGBTQ+ pub experience.

Our venue is famous for its “theatre of the spectacular.” Upstairs, our main bar is a warm, inviting space perfect for a relaxed drink, a catch-up with friends, or a bit of people-watching in our vibrant neighbourhood.

We take pride in our friendly service and inclusive atmosphere, making sure that whether you’re a Kennington local or a visitor from further afield, you feel like part of the family from the moment you walk in.

But it’s our entertainment that truly puts us on the map. The Cock Tavern is home to some of the most electrifying cabaret and drag performances in London. Our stage is a platform for both established stars and rising talent, offering everything from hilarious comedy and powerhouse vocals to avant-garde performance art.

  Clean, welcoming and operationally crisp beyond what most see. A well run abd owned venue with clear investment in the building and staff. Excellent drinks nothing is too mich trouble. Exceeded my Expectstions beyond what i imagined. Thank you for the chat with the female owner. Wonderful buisness and team to be proud of.
