The Brighton Sauna -The South East’s premier destination

I'd like to come for the first time. Is the place open until midnight on weekdays?

Very clean and dam good value for money as only £20 come and go all day. Staff very friendly

Visited this Brighton Sauna for Brighton pride this year and was not impressed for the following reasons: Facilities: Facilities are very poor for what you would expect from a sauna, in particular showering and toilet facilities, two bathroom stalls, three showers, urinal that could fit two men at max and one corner sink with a push tap that requires constant push down for any water flow. This doesn’t help if you’re bottom looking to prepare or even refresh. So unless you’re pristine down there and can maintain that for the few hours of your stay you’re going to have an awkward and potentially embarrassing task on your hands. But from my encounter with a staff member when enquiring about douching facilities I was given a “ what’s there is there” along with a smart, condescending “ bring your own douche, shove it under the tap and shove it up yourself, bobs your uncle”. This made me feel as looking for a bit of humility was a stretch and not a great first impression for someone new to this establishment. But this can be avoided if you want to refresh at home or your hotel room and repay the 30 pound readmission fee (regular price for this weekend is 30 pound anyway). Day or weekend passes that would allow you to come and go as you wish and not offered during the Brighton Pride weekend. This is due to “high demand” and that there would be lines of people to enter from 6pm onwards as warned by the staff. Spoiler alert: There were no lines. Understandable seeing as the gloryhole situation results in you sitting in a cubicle on a plastic deck chair and their idea of a safe floor mat to dry your feet’s after a shower is a fleece bath mat. So in conclusion would I return to The Brighton Sauna? No, if you’re visiting for a pride event, save yourself the trouble, awkwardness and dressing down from staff for requesting a decent tap or shower. You’d be better off in the comfort of your own surroundings.

Sorry but worst sauna I have been to. No douching facilities. Won't be going here again unless they install a douche area.

This review reflects not the venue itself, but my personal experience, which did not live up to my expectations at a 4-star establishment. I showed up on a Friday, thinking this would be a busy night. There were a handful of men, mostly 15-20 years older than me. I tend to skew younger, but can't fault the establishment for the demographic. As I checked out, I told the friendly gentleman working there that I was surprised so few people were there, and he said he was surprised too, but that if I came back Sunday it would he packed, guaranteed. I took his word for it, and upgraded to the weekend pass. I returned the following day, as well as twice on Sunday, at supposedly peak hours, but the promised throngs of Brightonians never arrived (there were in fact fewer people there then than Friday). I was told this was a matter of bad luck, and that it's usually always busy on the weekend, so maybe take my experience with a grain of salt. That said, I do have a few suggestions for the management, that I believe would improve the experience for all: 1. Incentivize more young attendance -- offer discounts to students and younger customers who tend to earn less and also tend to draw more clientele (yes it's inherently ageist, but it's also good business and mutually beneficial). 2. Offer lower prices on admission later in the day, so you don't get such a crazy dip as closing time approaches. 3. Put some sort of soft light in the steam room. As it is now, it's impossible to see more than 12 inches into the room, which means I can't tell if I'm about to find a bench to relax on or an unsuspecting lap; not conducive to confident flirting. 4. And finally, please do something about the odor in the bathroom; I'd mentioned it to the staff during my first visit, but it continued to smell overpoweringly like stale urine on the following visits, which was frankly a bit of a buzzkill, especially considering it's detectable from the shower. Again, I write this feedback in the spirit of wanting this business to succeed and flourish, and have no regrets whatsoever about having supported this gay establishment 🌈
