Katie’s Bar is Glasgow’s favourite LGBTQ+ venue for great vibes, amazing drinks and unforgettable nights, and we are proud to have served the community since opening in July 2013. Located at 17 John Street in the heart of Merchant City, our underground basement bar has been proudly serving the LGBTQ+ community ever since, bringing in fantastic crowds and making the venue extremely successful.
As the owners, we have built Katie’s Bar around a simple idea: an inclusive, welcoming and fun space where everyone can feel at home. Whether guests are locals, tourists, first-time visitors or regulars, we want them to feel part of the room from the moment they walk through the door.
A vibrant underground venue
Katie’s Bar is an underground basement bar that offers a lively, energetic atmosphere with a strong sense of community. The venue is designed to be fun, unpretentious and full of life, with a programme of events that keeps people coming back week after week.
We are open 7 days, and our regular programme includes drag, drinks and live music. The home of Bender Bingo, Katie’s Bar is well known for its infamous Bender Bingo party, which has become a highlight of the week. We are also the venue for Geez a Gig, a fun-packed afternoon of laughs, tunes and festive fun that brings people together in a relaxed, celebratory way.
Our events range from drag shows and live music to tribute acts, pub quizzes and special parties. We also host our annual Easter Party for Katie’s Kids, a family-friendly event that shows our commitment to being a space for all ages.
Great drinks and food-friendly nights
We offer great drink offers and a varied selection of beverages for all tastes. Our drinks menu includes a range of beers, spirits and alcohol-free options, with quality beverages served by friendly staff who know how to make guests feel welcome.
Food is available on event nights, with snacks and light bites that work perfectly with our drinks and entertainment. Whether guests are coming for Bender Bingo, a gig, a night out with friends or a relaxed drink, we want them to have a satisfying experience from start to finish.
Events for everyone
We host events for all kinds of occasions, from birthdays and group nights out to community gatherings and special parties. Our events are designed to be inclusive, fun and accessible to all, with something for everyone to enjoy.
Bender Bingo is one of our biggest draws, bringing people together for a laugh, a game and a great night out. Geez a Gig offers a magical afternoon of laughs, tunes and festive fun. We also host pub quizzes, tribute shows, and special nights that celebrate different styles of music and performance.
Why we do
We run Katie’s Bar because we love the LGBTQ+ community, we care about our customers, and we believe in the power of good drinks, great events and a welcoming atmosphere to bring people together. We want the venue to be a dependable part of Glasgow’s nightlife, a place where people feel at ease and where they keep coming back.
Our team is dedicated to delivering friendly service and a consistent experience every time guests visit. From the first drink to the last, we want everyone to leave feeling happy and satisfied.

It's nice when it's quiet, I find it dreadfully expensive so I don't tend to buy that many drinks here. Have done karaoke, had fun with groups and catch ups with friends from out of town.
